  • "Roy completed an insurance survey on our 1970 Chris Craft Roamer (58 foot) recently. He spent the better part of a day crawling through every nook and cranny. The boat is aluminum, which is an excellent construction material, but has an inherent drawback. Where ever the aluminum touches an dissimilar metal there is risk of corrosion. He knew these potential problems and where to look for dissimilar metals. He did a very thorough job. He also inspected and tested all systems from anchor windless to dinghy crane, hydraulic steering to 'fly by wire' (Glendinning throttle/shifter) equipment. His report included an inventory of all electronic equipment and appliances, powering them all up as he went along. He returned the completed survey in just a few days. I've purchased five or six boats in my life, each being surveyed, and rarely has a survey been this complete and never were they returned this quickly.   • "I wanted a pre-purchase survey done at short notice on a boat I was interested in buying and not knowing where to start, I searched the SAMS website and found two surveyors listed in Marathon, Florida where the boat was located. I called both and left voicemails, Roy called me back within 10 minutes, I never heard from the other surveyor. I consider myself lucky that Roy replied to the call. He arrived early and spent a full day burrowing into every nook and cranny and all the systems on the boat and identifying both the good points as well as any issues and concerns. The process was very thorough and methodical and he was very generous with his knowledge and freely answered my incessant questions.! The report arrived a couple of days later and was very detailed and concise with a lot of photos included. After the owner had some post survey repairs carried out, Roy was also very helpful in reviewing and confirming that the works had been done properly.
